Dr James X Facer-Childs
MBChB MRCEM FRGS BSc MSc CSM

A renowned explorer and adventurer with a Guinness World Record and multiple exploits from the Indian Ocean to traverses of Antarctica. Dr James works as an emergency care doctor in the NHS and provides his enhanced skills to support expeditions, medical events, medical retrieval, teaching and training.

DOCTOR

Graduating from Warwick Medical School in 2014 (MBChB) James has over 10 years experience, has worked across many specialties, and pursued his interest in delivering emergency care, receiving his higher training number in 2022.  James is a lead registrar managing the most difficult and unwell patients in the emergency department, while also managing the team, making critical department decisions and ensuring patient safety across all levels.  His passion for adventure has resulted in many experiences outside the hospital too and delivering expert medical care in sporting events, during travel and even as remote as Antarctica.

Instructor

With over 10 years of experience in medical care and undertaking exploits around the world James has developed an understanding of medicine and its application in a wide range of different settings. James brings his talent to teaching, to train and develop others and see them excel.  James is the Course Director for Unique Expeditions Polar Medicine held in Norway each year.
